About the Training
Have a world of fun while learning over 50 games and activities and how to use them in your field of work. Training in First Aid, bush skills, and canoeing are integral to the program. Workshops on Conflict Resolution, Respecting Boundaries, Cross-cultural Awareness, Indigenous Protocol, and Nature Appreciation will add to your repertoire of skills.
You will also learn camp set-up and scheduling, staff and equipment needs, nutrition and meal planning, health and safety standards, emergency procedures, environmental guidelines, and program camp games and activities. Global and environmental issues will make the experience holistic.
This program is open to all adults who are 19 years of age or older. Youth under 19 years of age may be considered if accompanied by an adult.
Equipment List:
• Pencil, pens, and notebook
• Backpack/Day pack
• Runners, sandals, and water bottle
• Casual wear-Jeans shirts
• Running shorts, rain gear, etc.
• Swimsuit, cap, goggles
• Sunscreen, hat, toiletries, towel
Optional Equipment:
• Photos, slides, or videos of your community
• Small trading items for games (feathers, stones, shells, beads, etc.)
• Craft materials-leather, weaving, beading, carving, etc.
Location:
Soaring Spirits Camp is 6km west of Stewart Cassiar Junction in Kitwanga, BC. The address is 23447 Highway 16.
Cost:
$3500.00 CAD
Includes local transport from Terrace, B.C. Course instruction, training manuals, certificates, accommodations, and meals).
Payment:
All funds must be paid in full by May 26, 2023. Cheques should be made payable to Rediscovery International Foundation and mailed to: PO Box 1049, Haisla BC, V0T 2B0. E-transfers can also be accepted. All fees must be paid in full before the program starts. Applicants with an outstanding balance will not be accepted.
