Creating Opportunity While Preserving Tradition, Culture, and the Environment

The Gitga’at Development Corporation (GDC) is the economic development arm of the Gitga’at First Nation. GDC is responsible for building economic opportunity from the ground up including initiatives in the local community and beyond in Northern BC.

Whether building a business from scratch or partnering with established leaders in their fields, GDC aims to both employ qualified members and ensure the economic success of the Nation.

Joint venture partnerships span across industries including forestry, marine, energy, environmental, construction, and more. Large-scale energy projects such as LNG Canada aim to employ Gitga’at members in a variety of jobs ranging from entry level to highly skilled.

Although GDC has been in existence in its current form since 2012, it has only been operational and active since February of 2017. Although the main interest is commerce around sustainable natural resource extraction, GDC is also interested in opportunities beyond traditional resources.

GDC welcomes inquiries about projects with a high environmental standard and the potential to benefit the local community in terms of employment and/or economic growth.
