The First Peoples’ Cultural Council (FPCC) is now accepting applications for the Mentor-Apprentice Program (MAP) — a powerful initiative supporting the revitalization of B.C.'s Indigenous languages through one-on-one immersion learning.

Whether you're at home, on the land, or on the water, MAP helps language learners become fluent by bringing the language into daily life. The program connects a fluent speaker (mentor) with a learner (apprentice), creating space for meaningful and consistent language transmission.

Two Funding Streams Available:

  • Mentor-Apprentice Program: Up to $21,000

  • MAP: Connections: Up to $6,500

Who Can Apply:

  • B.C. First Nations individuals (status or non-status), living on or off reserve in B.C.

  • Learners aged 16–50 working toward passing the language to others (MAP)

  • Learners 16+ for the MAP: Connections stream

  • Must be learning one of the 36 First Nations languages in B.C. funded by FPCC

Application Deadline: October 1, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. PT

Project Term: April 1, 2026 – March 1, 2027

Apply via the FPCC Grant Portal: fpcc.ca
