The Gitga'at First Nation is looking for three community members to step up and serve on our newly established Finance and Audit Committee, and we want to hear from you.
This is a meaningful opportunity to play an active role in how our Nation manages its financial future. The committee is an advisory body established by Chief & Council, and members will be appointed by the Band Manager in accordance with the Committee's Terms of Reference.
What does the committee do?
The Finance and Audit Committee works alongside one Council member and our Finance Representative to review and provide recommendations on key financial matters, including draft annual budgets, multi-year financial plans, quarterly and annual financial statements, and the overall financial performance of the Gitga'at First Nation. While the committee advises, final decisions remain with Council.
Who are we looking for?
To be eligible, you should have financial competency, meaning the skill and knowledge to make sound financial decisions. You must also be in good financial standing with the Band, have not been removed from a board, committee, or other body for breach of confidentiality within the last five years, and be someone who demonstrates fairness and integrity.
How to apply
We'd love to hear from you in writing. Please submit a letter of interest that describes your skills and background in finance, and tells us why you're interested in serving on this committee.
Your letter can be emailed to Band Manager Teresa Robinson at teresarobinson@gitgaat.ca, mailed to our office at 445 Hayimiisaxaa Way, Hartley Bay, BC V0V 1A0, or dropped off at the front desk.
The deadline to submit your expression of interest is June 26, 2026.
Training for new committee members will be held mid to late July, so there's still plenty of time to get involved.
Questions? Give us a call at 250-841-2500 or 250-841-2525. We look forward to hearing from you.
