Help Is Here for Urban Gitga'at Households: Up to $1,000 for Replacing Essential Household Items
Life outside Hartley Bay comes with its own set of challenges, and when a major household appliance breaks down, the cost of replacing it can hit hard. That's why Gitga'at First Nation has launched the 2026 Urban Household Item Replacement Program, offering eligible Member households up to $1,000 in one-time assistance to replace a non-functional major household item.
What the Program Covers
This program is designed for Gitga'at Member households living outside of Hartley Bay (urban members). If a major household item stops working, this funding can help you replace it, no interest-free loans, no repayment, just direct support to get your household back on its feet.
Examples of eligible items include:
Refrigerator
Stove / range
Dishwasher
Washer / dryer
Bed set
Who Can Apply
Gitga'at Member households located outside Hartley Bay (urban)
One-time assistance is available per household
Funding is for one major household item
Any cost above $1,000 is the responsibility of the member
How to Apply
Applying is simple, just follow these four steps:
