Exciting Training & Employment Opportunities Coming This Fall with TRICORP

This fall, TRICORP (Tribal Resources Investment Corporation) is offering a wide range of programs and information sessions to help community members strengthen their skills, explore new career paths, and gain hands-on experience. From driving and marine training to youth mentorship and employment supports, there’s something for everyone.
Here’s a look at what’s coming up:
Hartley Bay Information Session – Rescheduled to September 25, 2025
Location: Cultural Center, Elder’s Room
Time: 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM
TRICORP staff will be in Hartley Bay to share details on three key support programs:
T.E.S.T.S. (TRICORP Employment, Skills & Training Services): Safety gear, courses, trades, apprenticeships, and wage subsidies.
PES (Pre-Employment Supports): Training, life skills, and career exploration tailored for social assistance clients.
YESS (Youth Employment & Skills Strategy): Supports for youth aged 15–30, including mentoring, paid skill-building, and work placements.
This is a great opportunity for community members to learn how TRICORP can provide training and employment supports right here at home.
Class 1 MELT Program – Call of Interest Now Open
Location: Prince Rupert
Deadline to Express Interest: August 31, 2025
Are you interested in professional truck driving?
The Class 1 Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT) Program is a requirement for anyone applying for a Class 1 Driver’s License in B.C. This 140-hour course covers classroom learning, practical training, and on-highway driving.
Requirements include: Age 19+, valid Class 5 license, Driver’s Abstract, Proof of Ancestry, and a commitment to the program schedule.
This is an excellent pathway for those looking to start a career in commercial transportation.
Small Vessel Machinery Operator Program – Call of Interest Deadline: August 30, 2025
Location: Prince Rupert
Program Dates: October 2025 (exact dates TBA)
In partnership with BCIT, TRICORP is offering training for those interested in working in marine operations. Students will learn:
Shipboard safety and emergency procedures
Firefighting and pollution prevention
Lifesaving equipment operation
Machinery operation and maintenance (engines, pumps, generators, battery systems, hydraulics, and more)
Marine fuel systems, lubricants, and electrical/pneumatic systems
Requirements include: Age 18+, valid driver’s license, valid Proof of Ancestry, and willingness to commit to the schedule.
This program is ideal for anyone interested in pursuing a career in marine industries.
Youth Employment & Skills Strategy (YESS) Program
Designed for youth aged 15–30 (with a valid SIN), the YESS Program helps young people strengthen employment skills, gain real work experience, and receive mentorship support.
Program highlights:
One-on-one mentoring with a job coach
Six weeks of paid skill building
Six weeks of supported work experience
Certificate training to boost career opportunities
This program provides both financial support and hands-on guidance to help youth succeed in their career journeys.
