There are a few seats left for the in-person Bridge Watch Rating Enhanced program at KVI starting Oct 21, 2024.
Program Overview
The program runs in person in Kitimat until Jan 31, 2025, and then the students will be flown to Vancouver, where they’ll finish their Marine Emergency Duties (Fire Fighting and Survival Craft). They are looking for Northern residents to fill the last remaining spots.
The course will end in mid-February in North Vancouver. When the course is complete, candidates will have the following certificates and be able to work anywhere in the world:
Bridge Watch Rating Certificate
Food Safe
Basic Marine First Aid
ROC-MC
Basic Safety Training (BST)
Proficiency in Survival Craft (PSC)
Small Vessel Operator Permit (SVOP)
No Cost to First Nations Students
The course is fully funded, and out-of-town students will be lodged at Sitka Lodge, where they can get three meals a day. Any expenses for a marine medical or work boots (up to $150) will also be covered.
Requirements and Applications
You need your high school transcripts (or equivalent), a valid marine medical, a CDN# (from Transport Canada), and your application to get in the program.
