Deckhand Training Program

Seaspan/HaiSea will hold a Deckhand Training program starting in February 2024. If you are interested in this program, you will need to do the following:


Certificates

  • Bridge Watch Rating (Training Cert acceptable, including basic safety and survival craft)

  • Marine Basic First Aid

  • Foodsafe (online course https://www.foodsafe.ca)

  • Marine Medical Certificate -If you live up north, the “2nd Avenue Medical Clinic” 330 2 Ave W, Prince Rupert, BC V8J 1G6 can accommodate: (250) 624-5500)

  • Valid Passport (and waiver if needed must be able to travel to the USA)

  • Criminal Background Check (can be done at the RCMP office)

 

Registration with the ILWU400

Submit copies of your certificates. When you do, please notify them of your band affiliation and interest in the deckhand training program. You will work through this union; they assign members to our training program.
